Mission

Leave a legacy for a great old community by providing college scholarships to deserving high school seniors in Jefferson and Shelby Counties.

The Ensley High School Alumni Association, Inc. is a publicly supported association governed by a twenty member Board comprised of Ensley High School alumni and coaches. Board Members are listed on the right.

The association holds an annual weekend event that includes a golf tournament and social activities. Net proceeds from weekend activities, along with additional alumni donations and corporate donations make up the scholarship fund. Members also participate in additional fund raising activities such as a concession tent at the Bruno’s Memorial Golf Tournament.

The Association has tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax deductible.

All Ensley High School alumni and friends are welcome and encouraged to participate in activities.

In 2000, a small number of Ensley High School alumni created the Coach Herb Hanes college scholarship fund to honor their high school coaches. These inaugural efforts met with such a tremendous success that by 2001 the association was able to present three $2,000 college scholarships during a banquet featuring Coach Bobby Bowden as the guest speaker.
